found object collages

May - June 2020

When COVID19 shut down my studio, I lost access to saws, drills, hammers, pottery wheels, kilns, printing presses, etc. I was forced to be creative with the medium of my artwork. I turned to waste around my apartment, salvaging, and dissecting objects, and composing them on paper.

These collages are not portraits, pictures, writing, or anything formally identifiable. They are instead like micro works of architecture. Just as a building is a composition of materials such as stone, wood, glass, etc. - these collages are made up of plastic film, paper, bubble wrap, cardboard, and anything else I could find around me. Though they fulfill no particular function, they encompass a wide range of materials and form.
